Where Angels Travel - A Trilogy

Where Angels Travel is a trilogy of writing composed and explored by UDT and inspired by a line from a piece of eighteenth century German folklore.

"Where angels travel the sun always shines"

The performance explores, from a global perspective, the issues of displacement and dispossession of peoples and also the strength of joy brought to earth by new generations

Part One - The Clearing

This was created in 1999 with financial assistance from Glasgow District Council, Renfrewshire Councl and the Scottish Arts Council. It is a two-hander exploring responses to displacement and dispossession. Artwork by Austin Scally-Trayner, Music by Quee MacArthur

"A thrilling cross-cultural sound score." The Herald

"And though this gentle, poetic piece rejoices in a directness of performance style, its underlying content and concept are as intricate and interlocking as the Celtic heritage the art work and choreography celebrate. I look forward to the rest of the Where Angels Travel trilogy." Mary Brennan, Dance Critic, The Glasgow Herald

Currently available for performance (1hr)
Can involve integration with the audience and could be linked to a ceilidh celebration with live musicians at the end of the show.

Part Two - SPeAR

The second part of the trilogy is to be developed in the spring of 2004. Inspired by the "Voyage of Maeldun", an ancient Celtic journey myth, it will instigate and cultivate thoughts and images of cross-generational relationships and involve collaboration with local comunity big bands. The performance will be in the style of music theatre/cabaret and will embrace lindy hop, break and ballroom dance. The set will be created around vertical skateboard ramps, with film and soundscapes integral to the story telling mechanism and the floor will be open for the audience to participate within the performance

Available for touring from October 2004
This will be a flexible travelling show with a portable set which could be performed outdoors, eg skate parks, festival tent
